Summary:
Distilled complex clinical research into an accessible infographic that reached 10,000+ engagements on social media.
Challenge
Winning Against Depression, a nonprofit focused on mental health advocacy, needed an infographic that communicated the impact of clinical depression on teenagers — a topic often misunderstood or oversimplified. The piece needed to be shareable on social media and engaging enough to spark conversation, while remaining scientifically accurate and accessible to a general audience.
Solution
I interviewed the client to understand their target audience — teenagers and their families — and identify which aspects of clinical depression were most misunderstood or stigmatized. Drawing on 20 years of personal research in psychology and my own lived experience with Major Depressive Disorder, I curated the facts and symptoms to emphasize, prioritizing lesser-known impacts that would resonate emotionally while remaining clinically accurate.
I then designed the infographic in Adobe Illustrator, balancing visual appeal with readability to ensure the content would perform well on social media while treating the subject matter with the gravity it deserves.
